Which Platform To Choose: A Very Personal Perspective

As more people find ways to work from home and earn passive income, there are more online platforms that are supporting virtual sex workers to look into. While it is becoming increasingly possible to access sexual content on the internet, it remains incredibly difficult to promote yourself as a sex worker since most social media platforms are rather antisocial when it comes to s-e-x. Among the most popular platforms for sharing sexy content are MakeLoveNotPorn and OnlyFans. I frequently get asked by people interested in subscribing to my content as well as folks considering sharing their own content, which platform do you recommend? As someone who uses both of these platforms as a sex worker and a subscriber, I recommend both - but for different reasons.

My first experience making money from sex online was sharing a video of me having sex on MakeLoveNotPorn. MLNP is a social media platform where real world people can upload videos of their #realworldsex, spontaneously filmed at home or wherever they happen to be getting it on. MLNP is Pro-sex. Pro-porn. Pro-knowing the difference. This felt like a refreshing change of scenery from the popular porn sites I grew up watching in secrecy. I love that MLNP actively celebrates all bodies, identities and sexualities. Most of all, I love that they are on a mission to show the world that #realworldsex can be playful, clumsy, intimate, loving and so much more.

As I shifted into more online work over the past couple of years, I wanted to have an outlet for different kinds of uncensored content and create multiple income streams. I also wanted to share content in that sweet spot that is deemed inappropriate for most social media, but isn’t necessarily a sex tape either. I expanded to OnlyFans where I can share and monetize any kind of media. OnlyFans is often associated with sex work, but they are simply a hosting platform with a paywall that anyone who creates pretty much any kind of digital media can use for a fee. Some of the things I like to share are sexy photos & videos, yoga & sensual movement, nude ukelele sessions and custom requests from my subscribers. It’s also interactive and features the ability to privately message subscribers.

While I have a lot to offer and a couple of places to share it (for now — lest we forget the debacle where OnlyFans nearly removed all adult content in 2021), promoting my offerings presents a challenge since adult content of any kind is not allowed to be advertised on any mainstream social media platform, paid or otherwise. I’m on my own with OnlyFans and it feels a bit lonely at times. Whoever is behind this platform, they do nothing to help promote my page, so if I want anyone to see it, I have to figure out how to find subscribers single-handedly — without having the ability to advertise. It’s tricky! With MLNP, Cindy and her team do so much to promote my videos like sharing them on their latest videos page which gets a ton of views each day, sending it out to their extensive email list and sharing my posts to their social media. I feel confident that they have my back and will always be committed to pioneering the social sex revolution.

Basically, MLNP is the long-term, committed relationship that my heart desires. It is built on trust, mutual respect and communication. By contrast, OnlyFans meets some of my other needs, but they are generally unsupportive, unavailable, and they might ghost me at any moment.

Here are some of the more detailed pros & cons that reflect my experience on each platform:

Only Fans Pros

  • I can post whatever I want, whenever I want.
  • I can chat with people in real time.
  • I get to set my own pricing.
  • I can accept tips.
  • If I need to earn some quick cash, I can take requests or offer a promotion.
  • I receive 80% of all revenue from my page.
  • I can easily edit my content after it has been posted.

Only Fans Cons

  • It’s lonely. It’s not community-oriented and I don’t even know who is behind it.
  • I don’t have advertising or moral support.
  • It’s extremely difficult to advertise myself and find subscribers.
  • I have to post consistently, like multiple times/week to keep my subscribers engaged.
  • I pay 20% of my earnings just to use their platform.

MLNP Pros

  • I love their mission to promote real world pleasure, intimacy & love.
  • They are actively educating the world on the difference between performative porn and #realworldsex.
  • MLNP offers something real in a world that is becoming more and more artificial.
  • They do so much to support me. Whether that’s in the form of being my sounding board or actively promoting my videos to their audience.
  • They provide a sense of community. I’ve connected with fellow MLNPstars and made new friends.
  • I receive 50% of revenue from my videos.
  • I can post just 1 video/month and still earn enough to pay most of my bills.

MLNP cons

  • I don’t have agency over the pricing of my videos.
  • I can only monetize #realworldsex videos.
  • 50% of my earnings goes to use their curated platform and receive support.

Each platform has its merits. I hope this gives you some things to consider when choosing to join one. There are also a few similarly sexy creator platforms to choose from, like Patreon and Fansly, among others. If you’ve had experiences on any of these platforms that you want to share or are thinking of joining one, drop a comment or send me a DM on instagram. I’d love to connect and hear your thoughts!
