I came across MakeLoveNotPorn on the podcast Turn Me On in 2018. I instantly loved the concept of #realworldsex, a term that speaks to the inherent hotness and personal sexual expertise we all embody as opposed to “amateur porn” which by definition implies a somewhat ungainly performance of the kind of sex the “real pros” have. The idea of MLNP seemed very accessible to me; like anyone can do this.

I submitted my first video thinking a scandalous sex tape would be a fun little act of gentle rebellion to cross off my bucket list. I love sex and what better way to celebrate that than to do it and share it with others who may also enjoy it? My video went live on MLNP’s site and I didn’t mention it to anyone except a couple of close friends. It was something I was privately proud of having done; it felt brave and sexually empowering to put myself out there like that. Publicly, I was very self-conscious of the fact that many of my acquaintances would probably disapprove. I also expected I might receive unwanted attention, worse than the objectifying stares and commentary I am already subject to from simply walking down the street as a woman. I initially wasn’t interested in engaging with MLNP in any way beyond uploading a video to the internet as a one-time thing. In fact, I promptly forgot about it. That is until I received my first check in the mail and realized that this sexy secret of mine was actually profitable enough to make my student loan payment that month.

MLNP came into my life at a time when I was drowning in debt. At first, I was motivated to make more videos as a way to generate some extra income while still being able to work full-time. As I submitted more videos, I started engaging with MLNP more. I followed them on Instagram, I watched the CEO and founder, Cindy Gallop’s Powerful Ted Talk, I helped test their new and improved website before it launched, I began learning about and chatting with the people behind it. When comments were introduced to the platform I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were wonderfully respectful and supportive. I was even more pleased to discover that MLNP actively monitors comments and will intercept ones that aren’t positive or that I don’t appreciate for any reason. It felt comforting to know that there are real people behind the scenes who genuinely care about my boundaries and safety. It wasn’t until about a year after I submitted my first video that I started talking about MLNP with more and more friends, and even making new friends who are also involved with it. Eventually it sunk in that I had unwittingly become part of something really positive and progressive in the world which, as it turns out, has been so good for my sex life and my sense of well-being, not to mention my bank account.

Here is why 2022 is the year to MakeLoveNotPorn:

Make #RealWorldCash

MakeLoveNotPorn operates with a 50/50 revenue sharing model. This means that as a MakeLoveNotPornstar, you earn 50% off all revenue from every video you submit! No shameless self-promoting required and no strings attached. You, of course, can promote yourself and make even more money that way, but you are also welcome to sit back and let MLNP promote you on their website which has thousands of subscribers; the kind of subscribers who appreciate and want to pay to watch #realworldsex.

At a time when many folks find themselves unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19, MakeLoveNotPorn is an excellent way of making #realworldcash without leaving your house or even getting out of bed for that matter. MLNP handles all payments, so you don’t have to worry about that. Since renting a video costs anywhere from $1 to $5 depending on the package, you can potentially earn anywhere from 50 cents to $2.50 per view and some videos get hundreds of views in the first month. The more videos you post, the more money all of your videos will bring in. The best part is that you’re simply capturing what you would already be doing anyways!

F*ck the Patriarchy

This is an opportunity to support a woman-owned business in a male-dominated industry (world), support sex workers who are often marginalized and support sexual beings everywhere in experiencing love and pleasure in their own way. In a world that still shames women for talking about their own pleasure and in many ways disapproves of LGBTQ+ sex, MakeLoveNotPorn is here to bring you real, unashamed pleasure, however you want to experience it.

In a way, being a MakeLoveNotPornstar feels like a very pleasurable form of sexual activism. By simply showing up, being vulnerable and bearing all (or as much as you feel like), it creates a small ripple of positive change in a patriarchal industry that often upholds unrealistic expectations of bodies and sexuality, and doesn’t always care whether you feel loved. By sharing your #realworldsex, you are helping promote body-positivity, sex-positivity, loving relationships and leading by example in setting real world expectations for sex from a variety of different perspectives.

Become Part of the #SocialSexRevolution

Sharing a small window into your sex life can feel incredibly hot, liberating and even be educational. It can be a way to connect with others at a time when the current global pandemic separates us. It can be a way to normalize talking about sex in all of its (very normal but unique) weirdness and feel validated. It is also a wonderfully positive and effective way to educate folks on what #RealWorldSex actually looks like and more importantly, feels like. As Cindy Gallop has pointed out, when we aren’t exposed to #realworldsex, porn becomes sex education by default. Here is your moment to own your sexuality, talk about it candidly and show other people the different forms pleasure actually takes. I like to think of it as having sex for a good cause.

There’s nothing revolutionary about #realworldsex because everyone is already doing it, however, having the courage to share it proudly is. Everyone wins when we normalize the notion of seeing and talking about #realworldsex in an open and honest way.

Please join us in making #messy #kinky #intimate #playful #howeveryoulikeit love — not porn.
